Joy's fun, one of a kind wearable art jewelry is inspired by the color, texture and feel of combinations of semi precious and precious stones, glass, shell, porcelain, crystals beads, silver plated metal tubes, beads, and charms. Her techniques are varied and include regular stringing, knitting, and weaving. She uses a strong .8mm elastic cord to make her bracelets and necklaces. Her popular "all in one" stretch bracelet/necklace can be a necklace or wrapped three times around the wrist as a statement piece. Most of her simple beaded and wire knitted necklaces are strung with the same elastic cord that can easily be pulled over the head. No more fumbling with those irritating clasps.

Rick Bisgyer Porcelain

321 Ericsson Ave. Betterton, MD 21610 / 941-524-2720

As a porcelain artist I create wheel thrown vessels inspired by the graceful curves of sails and hulls, and the ever-changing character of wind over water. Porcelain is the most demanding of all clay bodies and my extreme shapes are a constant challenge, yet a feeling of effortlessness and serenity is conveyed through these pieces. My glaze colors reflect the sea and sky as they change through the day bringing a sense of upward movement and lift that complements the narrow based, broad shouldered forms. I work to create beauty and a sense of peace as I strive to stay centered through clay.

Fairlee Forge

22540 Goose Hollow Dr. Chestertown, MD 21620 / 410-458-0948

I'm an artist, a maker, printmaker, blacksmith and teacher. My portfolio ranges from sculptural steel structures both large and small, assemblages made with found objects, outdoor installations, forged functional objects and works on paper. I often incorporate other mediums depending on the project, including glass and wood. My creative process is driven by investigation and research; though my primary medium is metal, I’m fascinated by cellular structures and articulated mechanisms, all metaphors for human form and feeling. For me, the creative process is contextual to my past experiences working as a nurse, and the awe of "being" in the world.

21590 Pine Ln. Rock Hall, MD 21661 / 703-801-3702

My paintings are geometrically-abstract works that emphasize grid-based relationships, rhythm, and internal space. Working with a reductive palette of white, grey and black allows me to emphasize serene arrangements of forms, using subtleties of texture and color to create a quiet material presence. I think of my work as an antidote to the time-bound, homocentric, mechanical logic of our culture, as a respite for the eye and the soul.

Two events have had a profound influence on my work as an artist. One was the return to the landscape of Maryland’s Eastern Shore where I spent my childhood. The other was the discovery of pastel as a medium. This combination of old and new enabled me to reinvigorate my painting efforts and discover a new love of teaching. My favorite subjects are small towns and rural landscapes in Maryland, Maine and Nova Scotia. Pastel is a wonderful medium--fast, flexible and forgiving. The studio tour enables visitors to go behind the scenes in a working studio and for me to share my enthusiasm about my medium.

I received a BA in Studio Fine Arts from Marist College in 2005, and an MFA in Printmaking from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas in 2008. I utilize various art techniques including printmaking (etching, mezzotint, woodcut, monotype), bookmaking, painting and photography. My subject matter mainly stems from my love of nature. Traveling and exploring is an enormous source of inspiration to my work. My style comes from my love of black and white photography, high-contrast images, and the energy from lively, vibrant colors. 20 1st Avenue Betterton MD 21610 / 443-534-4494

I think of my charcoal and ink drawings, accumulations of freely drawn lines set against a formal, structural grid, as metaphors for the series of planned and spontaneous life events played out over time. In both cases it is often difficult to anticipate what will result. A decision or action can lead to a whole new way of looking at things. The results are often surprising but the process is always intriguing and stimulating.

TBD  / 410-310-1432

I have grown from assimilating the basics to creating works of art. I am often inspired by nature and my sculptures can serve as colorful and decorative highlights for a wall, or a table. My 3-dimensional wall hangings reflect scenes from nature. My baskets and sculptures are often functional and/or contemporary. I weave many materials that I find in nature into my baskets. I use birch, willow and cedar bark; white and black ash, reed, cane, leather, sweetgrass, seagrass, waxed linen, hand-spun yarn, and telephone wire. I adorn the baskets with shells, pine cones, acorns, sea shells, feathers, bones, and hand-crafted beads. Many of my sculptures are utilitarian; some are purely decorative. My work reflects the beauty I see in the world around me.

When I retired from my faculty position at Johns Hopkins University I wanted to open a yarn shop to share my love of knitting, but what I really wanted to do was knit and teach the love of knitting, to see the light go on in a student's eyes. With the help of world class instructors, I learned not only how to make my garments handmade rather than homemade, but how to teach others to do the same. I have taught in Maryland and Maine for 17 years and enjoyed every minute. In my NEW studio you will see beautiful one-of-a-kind designer garments made with the best yarns in beautiful colors and color combinations.
