I love color, form and line. I want to use those elements to capture a mood and lighting. I prefer to mix architectural and natural elements into my images. There is a Navajo prayer that affirms a desire to “walk in beauty”. I hold that desire firmly. I also have a strong desire to draw. So if something holds still long enough for me to describe it on a surface, I will do that. I have produced murals, decorative and faux images to improve the visual interest of a space. Mostly, I work on canvas, paper and sanded paper. My preference for oils and pastels stems from a love of the rich color each has. Pastels are a bit more portable so I tend to have them on hand where ever I go. But the flexibility of oils to create a variety of looks and textures and its gooey feel during application means that I return to them repeatedly over time.
