Pastels

119 High St., Chestertown, MD 21620

Two events have had a profound influence on my work as an artist. One was the return to the landscape of Maryland\u2019s Eastern Shore where I spent my childhood. The other was the discovery of pastel as a medium. This combination of old and new enabled me to reinvigorate my painting efforts and discover a new love of teaching. My favorite subjects are small towns and rural landscapes in Maryland, Maine and Nova Scotia. Pastel is a wonderful medium--fast, flexible and forgiving. The studio tour enables visitors to go behind the scenes in a working studio and for me to share my enthusiasm about my medium.
